Navajo Bear Claw Turquoise Bracelet (10/20/2006)
Specifications: Huge, showy, heavy Native American Indian hand made Bear Paw Sterling Silver, Turquoise bracelet by master Navajo silversmith Thomas Nelson and signed with his hallmark (see enlargement). Five "Claws", beautifully hand carved Buffalo horn (no part of a real bear was used to make these amazing pieces). Huge genuine Turquoise cabochon is 55mm by 35mm set in hand hammered Sterling sawtooth bezel, surrounded by twisted Sterling Silver wire and placed on the heavy Sterling platform with traditional flower, leaves and "rain drops", as if you've found a footprint on the forest floor. Carved "claws" are 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches long, set in Sterling Silver sawtooth bezels & caps. Top of bracelet is 4 1/8 inches long by 2 3/8 inches wide. Heavy Sterling Silver side plates are hand stamped and cuff is heavy 1/2 round Sterling Silver wire. Total weight:198.45 gms. Bracelet cuff is about 6 1/2 inches long plus a 1 1/2 inch opening for a total of 8 inches and not very flexible. Consult your jeweler for resizing. Ring is very large,2 1/4 inches by 1 3/4 inches wide, size 13. Weight 56.7 gms with three genuine Turquoise cabochons in Sterling Silver sawtooth bezels, sizes range from 8mm by 10mm to 10mm by 15mm. Hallmarked by silversmith and stamped "Sterling" on inside. These are the types of ornaments seen worn by family members at Pueblo Feasts and Fiestas across the southwest, when only the finest jewelry will do, combined with other Sterling Silver, genuine Turquoise & Coral and Shell. This bracelet & ring came from an old pawn shop/trading post once located on Route 66 in New Mexico. Both pieces are in good condition and will make unique and one of a kind gifts of history and tradition or addition to collection. Thomas Nelson is a master Navajo silversmith, his work is one of a kind. No other piece will ever be exactly the same, he creates unique pieces that tell the story of the Dineh people in a way that is special to each Turquoise stone, and combination of Sterling Silver design and execution.
