It was reported that a study was made of a possible inhibitory action on the enzymatic hydrolysis of acetylthiocholine by human erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase of principal alkaloids isolated from Chelidonium majus L. and Macleaya cordata and microcarpa, and of drugs Ukrain and Sanguirythrine. Among all examined agents berberine, sanguinarine and Sanguirythrine were the strongest inhibitors of this reaction.Judging from the data obtained, sanguinarine and chelerythrine exert similar inhibitory effects on the reaction of enzymatic hydrolysis of acetylthiocholine.

Seabuckthorn seed oils & Seabuckthorn fruit oilsThe Ministry of Agriculture in China has announced that Seabuckthorn is a plant that can be utilized by both foodstuff and medicine products. There are two sources of oil in seabuckthorn: the seed and the pulp. Seabuckthorn pulp oil is gotten through high centrifugal speed and separation from raw pulp. Seabuckthorn seed oil is processed from seabuckthorn¡¯s seeds and extracted. In comparison with seabuckthorn pulp oil, the seed oils are highly unsaturated with up to 85% or more of the fatty acids making up the oil being linoleic or linolenic. Pulp oil is more saturated with about 30% of the fatty acids being palmitic, and 14%-50% of the fatty acids being palmitoleic acid. The difference between seed and pulp oil seems to lie in the relatively high content of C16 fatty acids in the pulp oil and the relatively high proportion of C18 fatty acids in the seed oil. In addition, carotenoids in seabuckthorn pulp oils are higher than that in seed oils. The content of carotenoids in pulp oil is 100 mg/100g and the content of ¦Â-carotene is 5 mg/100g.Both pulp and seed oils from seabuckthorn contain plenty of vitamin E content (100 mg/100g). Each 100g seabuckthorn oil contains 200 mg of VE of which the most active substance ¦Á¡¢¦Â-VE rank over 95%, 80 mg of carotenoid in which the content of ¦Â-carotene reaches 6mg, over 800mg of total sterol in which more than 500mg of ¦Â-sitosterol . It also includes more than 160 kinds of life active substances such as anthocyanin . It is a rare treasury rich in life active factors. Usage guidelines:1 Proceed to medicine and health food; take orally directly or proceed take orally liquid¡¢soft capsule production.2 Cosmetics production: seabuckthron seed oil contains more compounds that can be absorbed easily by skin, such as saturated fatty acid, dissociative fatty acid, hydrocarbon, sterol, lecithoid, VE, VA and so on. So it is natural and perfect and nontoxic without side effect in the aspect of skin nutrition. Use for cosmetics series and daily necessaries and so on.3 It has obvious and long-term function with good treatment to various wound such as burn, scald, bedsore, mouth ulcer, etc.4 Used to foodstuff additive or nutritional supplement: added into chocolate etc. Seabuckthorn flavone powderThe flavonoids of seabuckthorn are mainly extracted from fruit pulp and leaves. Total flavone concentration adds up to more 20%. Appearance is Kelly powder. It was proved by a great deal of experiments that seabuckthorn flavone has the effects to reduce blood fatty, increase shrinkage and diastole, resist cardiac muscle lacking of blood as well as arrhythmia. Therefore, seabuckthorn flavone is ideal in the aspects of medicine and health-care food.Usage guidelines:Sometimes the flavonoid extract is combined with starch; for example, a tablet, a soft and hard flavonoid capsule and taken orally liquid is produced for use in treating cardiovascular disease, regulating blood fatty, anti-aging and increasing immunity.Seabuckthorn pulp powderSeabuckthorn pulp powder is madefrom fresh Seabuckthorn juice by spray-dry or freeze-dry, it effectively keep the color, flavor and scent of seabuckthorn. Traditional Andmodernuses:Huzhang (\"tiger cane\") or giant knotweed is an east Asian species (Polygonum cuspidatum), belonging to the Polygonaceae family. Documented uses in traditional Chinese medicine date to the first century BC, and contemporary medical uses supported by clinical results include acute microbial infections or viral hepatitis, chemo- or radiation-induced leukocytopenia, atherosclerosis, and hyperlipidemia.
Pharmacology: In animal experiments, huzhang has exhibited antitussive, antihistaminic, hypotensive, vasodilating, cytotoxic, and antioxidant properties, among others. Huzhang is also a concentrated source of resveratrol (3,5,4¡Â-trihydroxy stilbene), an antioxidant phenol produced in response to fungi. Resveratrol has also shown antimutagenic activity in bioassays conducted on bacteria in vitro (umu and Ames tests). And, in a recent investigation conducted in vivo and in vitro, resveratrol displayed chemopreventive effects at three critical stages of carcinogenesis. Specifically, resveratrol was found to 1) induce phase II drug metabolizing enzymes (antiinitiation); 2) mediate anti-inflammatory effects and inhibit cyclooxygenase and hydro-peroxidase (antipromotion); and 3) induce human promyelocytic leukemia cell diferentiation (antiprogression). Resveratrol was also found to inhibit the development of preneoplastic lesions in vitro and tumorigenesis in vivo. Very recently, it was reported that Huzhang extract is one of the best active-oxygen scavengers for the prevention of skin aging induced by UV-irradiation and free radical. Experiments conducted in vivo indicate that resveratrol is a potent vasodilator and inhibitor of platelet aggregation. Recent work in dogs and humans indicate that other concentrated sources of resveratrol (i.e., red wine and grape juice) eliminate cyclic blood-flow reductions caused by platelet-mediated thrombosis.
Active Compounds:Huzhang is characterized by anthraquinones and their glycosides, napthoquinone, 3,5,4¡Â-trihydroxy stilbene (i.e., resveratrol), piceid, fallacinol, citreorosein, questin, questinol, protocatechuic acid, (+) catechin, 2,5-dimethyl-7- hydroxychromone, 7-hydroxy-4-methoxy-5-methylcoumarin, flavonols, polysaccharides, and condensed tannins.
Regulatory Status:Under U.S. law, huzhang extract is regulated as a dietary supplement. As of this writing, no European governments had issued monographs or regulations for nutraceutical uses of huzhang. NOTE: The statements in this publication have not been evaluated by the FDA.
