BOTANICAL NAME: Ginkgo biloba
PARTS USED AND HABITAT: Ginkgo biloba is the world?s longest living species of tree; individual trees live as long as 1,000 years. Ginkgo grows most prominently in the southern and eastern US, southern France, China, and Korea. The leaves of the tree are used
.INDICATION AND USAGE: (1) Primary uses: Age-related cognitive decline; Alzheimer?s disease; Intermittent claudication. (2) Secondary uses: Atherosclerosis; Depression (for elderly people); Erectile dysfunction (of vascular origin); Macular degeneration; Retinopathy; Vertigo (3) Other uses: Asthma; Depression; Diabetes; Migraine headaches; Parkinson?s disease; Raynaud?s disease; Tinnitus
HISTORICAL OR TRADITIONAL USE: (may or may not be supported by scientific studies): Medicinal use of ginkgo can be traced back almost 5,000 years in Chinese herbal medicine. The nuts of the tree were most commonly recommended and used to treat respiratory tract ailments. A tea of the leaves was occasionally used for elderly persons experiencing memory loss. Active constituents: The medical benefits of Ginkgo biloba extract (GBE) rely primarily on two groups of active components: the ginkgo flavone glycosides and the terpene lactones. The 24% ginkgo flavone glycoside designation on GBE labels indicates the carefully measured balance of bioflavonoids. These bioflavonoids are primarily responsible for GBE?s antioxidant activity and may mildly inhibit platelet aggregation (stickiness). These two actions may help GBE prevent circulatory diseases such as atherosclerosis and support the brain and central nervous system. The unique terpene lactone components found in GBE, known as ginkgolides and bilobalide, typically make up 6% of the extract. They are associated with increased circulation to the brain and other parts of the body as well as exert a protective action on nerve cells. Ginkgolides may improve circulation and inhibit platelet-activating factor (PAF). Bilobalide protects the cells of the nervous system. Recent animal studies indicate that bilobalide may help regenerate damaged nerve cells.
BOTANICAL NAME: Silybum marianum PARTS USED AND HABITAT: Milk thistle is indigenous to Europe and commonly found growing wild in a variety of settings, including roadsides. The seeds of the dried flower are used.
INDICATIONS AND USAGE: (1) Primary uses: Alcohol-related liver disease; Liver cirrhosis(2) Secondary uses: Hepatitis. (3) Other uses: Gallstones; Psoriasis.
HISTORICAL OR TRADITIONAL USE (may or may not be supported by scientific studies): Medical use of milk thistle can be traced back more than 2,000 years. Nicholas Culpeper, the well-known seventeenth-century pharmacist, cited its use for opening ?obstructions? of the liver and spleen and recommended it for the treatment of jaundice.
ACTIONS AND PHARMACOLOGY: Milk thistle seeds contain a bioflavonoid complex known as silymarin. This constituent is responsible for the medical benefits of the plant. Silymarin is made up of three parts: silibinin, silidianin, and silicristin. Silibinin is the most active and is largely responsible for the benefits attributed to silymarin. Milk thistle extract may protect the cells of the liver by blocking the entrance of harmful toxins and helping remove these toxins from the liver cells. As with other bioflavonoids, silymarin is a powerful antioxidant. Silymarin has also been shown to regenerate injured liver cells. Recent findings show that silymarin has the ability to block fibrosis, a process that contributes to the eventual development of cirrhosis in persons with inflammatory liver conditions secondary to alcohol abuse or hepatitis. While there are no published clinical trials to date, this action makes milk thistle extract potentially attractive to persons with chronic hepatitis C. Milk thistle extract is most commonly recommended to counteract the harmful actions of alcohol on the liver.Long-term placebo-controlled, double-blind studies have shown milk thistle extracts to be effective in patients with liver cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis B, and even diabetes due to cirrhosis. However, another study found no effect in cirrhosis patients. This negative study, however, did a poor job of monitoring alcohol intake during the two year duration of the study. Milk thistle alters bile makeup, thereby potentially reducing risk of gallstones. Combination of milk thistle with potentially liver-damaging drugs has been shown to protect the liver. Specification: 80% Silymarin UV(DAB 10), 70% Silymarin HPLC(DAB10)

BOTANICAL NAME: Camellia sinensis PARTS USED AND HABITAT: All teas (green, black and oolong) are derived from the same plant, Camellia sinensis. The difference is in how the plucked leaves are prepared. Green tea, unlike black and oolong tea, is not fermented, so the active constituents remain unaltered in the herb. The leaves of the tea plant are used both as a social and medicinal beverage. The plant does not originate in the wild. It was originally cultivated in China and is grown as a tea lant today in India, China, Sri Lanka, Japan, Indonesia, Kenya, Turkey, Pakistan, Malawi and Argentina.
INDICATIONS AND USAGE: (1) Secondary uses: Atherosclerosis; Cancer risk reduction; Gingivitis (periodontal disease); High cholestero. (2) Other uses: Crohn?s disease; Hemochromatosis (iron overload); High triglycerides; Hives; Immune function; Infection; Weight loss
HISTORICAL OR TRADITIONAL USE: (may or may not be supported by scientific studies): According to Chinese legend, tea was discovered accidentally by an emperor 4,000 years ago. Since then, traditional Chinese medicine has recommended green tea for headaches, body aches and pains, digestion, depression, immune enhancement, detoxification, as an energizer, and to prolong life. Modern research has confirmed many of these health benefits
ACTIONS AND PHARMACOLOGY: Green tea contains volatile oils, vitamins, minerals, and caffeine, but the active constituents are polyphenols, particularly the catechin called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). The polyphenols are believed to be responsible for most of green tea?s roles in promoting good health. Research demonstrates that green tea mildly guards against cardiovascular disease in many ways. Green tea lowers total cholesterol levels and improves the cholesterol profile (the ratio of LDL ?good? cholesterol to HDL ?bad? cholesterol), reduces platelet aggregation, and lowers blood pressure. However, not all studies have found that green tea intake lowers lipid levels. Green tea?s effectiveness as an antioxidant remains unclear. While some studies show that green tea is an antioxidant in humans, others have not been able to confirm that it protects LDL cholesterol from damage.Oxidation of LDL cholesterol is thought to be important in causing or accelerating atherosclerosis. Several animal and test tube studies have demonstrated an anticancer effect of polyphenols from green tea. The polyphenols in green tea have also been associated with reduced risk of several types of cancer in humans. In a double-blind study, people with leukoplakia (a pre-cancerous oral condition) took 3 grams of mixed oral and topical green tea or placebo for 6 months. Those in the green tea group had significant decreases in the pre-cancerous condition compared to placebo. Green tea polyphenols have been shown to stimulate the production of several immune system cells, and have antibacterial properties?even against the bacteria that cause dental plaque.

What is the Giant Knotweed Extract? Giant knotweed is an east Asian species (Polygonum cuspidatum), belonging to the Polygonaceae family. Documented uses in traditional Chinese medicine date to the first century BC, and contemporary medical uses supported by clinical results include acute microbial infections or viral hepatitis, chemo- or radiation-induced leukocytopenia, atherosclerosis, and hyperlipidemia. Giant knotweed extract has exhibited antitussive, antihistaminic, hypotensive, vasodilating, cytotoxic, and antioxidant properties, among others. Giant knotweed extract is also a concentrated source of resveratrol, an antioxidant phenol produced in response to fungi. Resveratrol has also shown antimutagenic activity in bioassays conducted on bacteria in vitro. And, in a recent investigation conducted in vivo and in vitro, resveratrol displayed chemopreventive effects at three critical stages of carcinogenesis. Specifically, resveratrol was found to 1) induce phase II drug metabolizing enzymes; 2) mediate anti-inflammatory effects and inhibit cyclooxygenase and hydro-peroxidase (antipromotion); and 3) induce human promyelocytic leukemia cell diferentiation. Resveratrol was also found to inhibit the development of preneoplastic lesions in vitro and tumorigenesis in vivo. Very recently, it was reported that Giant knotweed extract is one of the best active-oxygen scavengers for the prevention of skin aging induced by UV-irradiation and free radical. Experiments conducted in vivo indicate that resveratrol is a potent vasodilator and inhibitor of platelet aggregation. Recent work in dogs and humans indicate that other concentrated sources of resveratrol eliminate cyclic blood-flow reductions caused by platelet-mediated thrombosis. What is Guarana extract? Guarana is a herbal stimulant that contains a form of caffeine called guaranine, which is 2.5 times stronger than the caffeine found in coffee, tea and soft drinks. While caffeine from beverages provides a short-lived energy burst that overheats and excites the body, guaranine has a cooling action that revitalizes and relaxes. This is because guarana contains other components that modify the activity of this substance. The end result is more beneficial to the body than tea or coffee. Caffeine accelerates the effectiveness of CLA, thus making CLA a more potent fat burner. Guarana has been shown to stimulate the migration of lipids so fat can be burned as energy. It is also an appetite suppressant. Guarana increases mental alertness, fights fatigue, and increases stamina and physical endurance. Native to Brazil, guarana is taken daily as a health tonic by millions of Brazilians. It is reported to help overcome heat fatigue, detoxify the blood and is useful for flatulence and obesity. In body care products, it has been used for its tonifying and astringent properties, and in the treatment of cellulite. In a study published in the June 2001 issue of the Journal of Human Nutrition Diet, guarana extract induced weight loss over 45 days in overweight patients taking a mixed herbal preparation containing yerbe mate, guarana and damiana. Body weight reductions were 11.22 pounds in the guarana group compared to less than one pound in the placebo group after 45 days. Where will be Guarana extract used to? increase mental alertness help to fight fatigue increase stamina and endurance.

Product Specification : 1%~40% Corosolic Acid Latin Name: Musa paradisiaca Product Type: Fine green powdered extract Part of the Plant Used: leaf Extract Method: Water/ Grain Alcohol What is Banaba Leaf extract? Banaba leaf extract contains a triterpenoid compound known as corosolic acid ?which has actions in stimulating glucose transport into cells. As such, banaba plays a role in regulating levels of blood sugar and insulin in the blood. For some people, fluctuations in blood sugar and insulin are related to appetite, hunger and various food cravings ?particularly craving for carbohydrates such as bread and sweets. By keeping blood sugar and insulin levels in check, banaba may be an effective supplement for promoting weight loss in certain individuals Banaba is a medicinal plant that grows in India, Southeast Asia and the Philippines. Traditional uses include brewing tea from the leaves as a treatment for diabetes and hyperglycemia (elevated blood sugar). The hypoglycemic (blood sugar lowering) effect of banaba leaf extract is similar to that of insulin ?which induces glucose transport from the blood into body cells. The blood sugar regulating properties of banaba have been demonstrated in cell culture, animal and human studies. In isolated cells, the active ingredient in banaba extract, corosolic acid, is known to stimulate glucose uptake. In diabetic mice, rats and rabbits, banaba feeding reduces elevated blood sugar and insulin levels to normal. In humans with type II diabetes, banaba extract, at a dose of 16-48mg per day for 4-8 weeks, has been shown to be effective in reducing blood sugar levels (5%-30% reduction) and maintaining tighter control of blood sugar fluctuations. An interesting “side-effect?of tighter control of blood sugar and insulin levels is a significant tendency of banaba to promote weight loss (an average of 2-4 lbs. per month) ?without significant dietary alterations. It is likely that modulation of glucose and insulin levels reduces total caloric intake somewhat and encourages moderate weight loss. Where will be Banaba Leaf extract used to?
