Collimated light passing through the diameter of the rod will be focused into a line.

Wedge prism is an optical element having plane-inclined surfaces, usually the faces are inclined toward one another at very small angles. Wedges divert light toward their thicker portions.
Wedge prism is commonly used in laser system for eliminating the reflections from the second surface or for beam steering. Standard and broadband antireflection coatings are available upon request, see our standard optics components below.

Double-Convex Lens, also named Bi-Convex Lens, is most suitable where the object and image are on opposite sides of the lens and the ratio of the image and object (conjugate ratio) distances is between 0.2 to 5. It is used in beam expanders,. Projection optics systems, optical viewers etc; Double-Concave Lens, also named Bi-Concave Lens, is used to divergent light. The Bi-Concave is best used when the input beam is converging. It is used in beam expanders,. Projection optics systems, optical viewers and optical charater readers etc; Meniscus Lens can increase the NA of the system while only adding slightly to the total spherical aberrations. The Negative Meniscus Lens is used to increase the focal length of another lens while maintaining the angular resolution of the optical assembly. This lens shape is best used when one conjugate is relatively far from the lens.
