Floor Boring Machine Reengineered From Lathe Bed & Back Rest (05/10/2006)
Specifications: Shenoy Engg Pvt Ltd, a Bangalore based SPM manufacturers treat it as their privilege to introduce new concepts in technological up gradation of old machines and expand its scope from mere reconditioning and re-establishing its geometrical accuracy. They have converted a condemned lathe bed into a floor borer (top side photo) by introducing a vertical housing and a milling head with a right angle attachment for Z axis movement. A discarded back rest of a floor borer has been re-engineered literally into another insitu floor borer as shown in the before and after photographs. The existing 3048 mm X axis movement & 1800 mm Y axes have been retrofitted with individual feed units, consisting of worm reduction gear boxes and motors. A ram type slide unit has been retrofitted for 500 mm Z axis movement. On the ram, a milling head has been mounted. The other features of the machine are hardened and ground male guideway strips & turkite lining for female guideways, hydraulic locking of axes movement, centralized automatic lubrication system, stepless feed range for axes movement through a frequency converter, in-built programmability through a combination of limit switches and PLC. Converting a lathe bed and a back rest into floor borers have helped the customers to dispense with the expensive and exsitu floor boring operation. In fact, the huge jobs of the customers make the conventional exsitu machining technically and economically less feasible. These in-expensive conversions have proved to be the right insitu technology for the huge jobs.
