Resveratrol exhibits cancer chemo-preventive activity by acting as an antioxidant, an antimutagen, and an anti-inflammatory agent. Resveratrol can also inhibit protein-tyrosine kinase, which catalyzes the phosphorylation of tyrosine. This kinase is involved in signal transduction in the cytoplasm of a cell involved in the regulation of mitogenesis. The inhibition of protein-tyrosine kinase by resveratrol is possibly antimutagenic by detering the kinases function.
