2000 Ducati : Superbike (02/09/2005)
Specifications: Offered is a 2000 996 SPS. This is the highest performance variant of what many think is the most beautiful superbike ever conceived. The motorcycle remains on the manufacturer's "Certificate of Origin for a Vehicle" and has never been registered. The odometer has registered 50 miles. (It had 9 on it when delivered. ) I bought the motorcycle from the original purchaser who remains my number one riding partner today. These SPSs were produced in very small numbers and very limited availability. They were EXPENSIVE! (Think 999R except more rare. ) At 50 miles the bike was stripped of all of it's factory street equipment including all of the body work, the stock wheels and much of the running gear. This was all carefully packed and stored. An STM slipper clutch was installed as well as Ducati's factory lightened flywheel (origial available), a set of Sharkskins track body work and other miscelaneous moto jewelry. My friend used the bike as a track bike for about a dozen outings during the first year. When I bought it about two years ago it had been decorating the main room of his guest house for over two years. In the last two years I have taken the bike to track days fewer times than the original owner did in the first year (about six I think). I have very recently unpacked the brand new factory parts and put the bike back together as delivered from the factory. Since bodywork, wheels, footpegs and linkages and many other pieces have seen only 50 miles of service the bike is in showroom condition. I am unable to find even one rock chip anywhere on the bodywork or wheels. Truely as new. It has been meticulously dealer serviced into submission throughout it's life. It runs flawlessly as it should. You will note that I have taken many photos close up with the side covers off so that interested bidders may be sure that this bike has had meticulous care down to the last hidden detail.

Specifications: ONLY 3975 MILES ON BOARD. The Ducati 999 has an aggressive style, a high aerodynamics efficiency and the best functionality of all his parts. The turn signals are integrated into mirrors, the front fairing is narrow and highly aerodynamic thanks to the stacked polyellipsoidal headlamps, mirrors/indicators have quick release. The trellis frame is constructed of welded and mitered high-strength ALS450 steel tubing. The cylinder heads have a steep included valve angle of only 25 degrees; 12 degrees for the intake valves and 13 degrees for the exhaust valves. This allows a very compact combustion chamber, and enables the use of flat top pistons while still having a high compression ratio of 11.4:1. The Ducati 999 solves this in a unique way by varying the diameters of the exhaust pipes to simulate equal length pipes.
