Alloy 5356 is an all-position TIG wire used to weld the 5XXX series alloys when 40,000 psi tensile strength is not a requirement. Alloy 5356 is a very good all-purpose wire so it is the most widely used of all aluminum fillers metals.

Typical Application: Common applications are welding of boats/ships, bicycles, tanks pressure vessels and automotive parts.

Alloy 4043 is a 4.5-6% silicon alloy used to weld heat-treatable base alloys. It is most often used to weld the 6XXX series of alloys. The silicon addition improves puddle fluidity, producing an appealing bead profile. It s less crack-sensitive on the 6XXX series than other welding alloys.

Typical Application: Common applications are automotive parts, truck trailers and bicycles. It is also ideally suited for brazing thin aluminum sheet and tubing.

Alloy 1100 is highly resistant to chemical etching and weathering. It is a relatively soft alloy that is very formable and is used extensively in thin gauge and foil products. It has good welding characteristics and it is also used as a filler alloy for welding purposes. Base metals that can be welded are 1060, 1070, 1080 and 3003.

Applications: Heat exchangers, Food handling equipment, Rivets, Tie wire, Metallizing.

Welding Current: DCEP

Alloy 5183 contains alloying elements 4.3-5.2% magnesium, 0.5-1.0% manganese as well as chromium and titanium. This alloy is commonly used on marine components, drilling rigs, cryogenics, railroad cars, storage tanks and unfired pressure vessels. Base metals commonly welded include 5083, 5086 and 5456 to similar base matals or to 5052, 5652 and 5056. The post-anodizing color tint is white.
